For me this master’s degree is an opportunity to work
towards my lifelong goals. This isn’t just about working as a game developer,
it’s about utilizing all my skills to build a business. A business that has me
building quality software applications combined with my artistic skills and
allows me to pursue more experimental projects as time goes on. More than
anything this is about me finding my freedom, no more taking jobs just to pay
the bills and no more sacrificing my time to someone else.
This is probably the most selfish attitude I could have but I’ve worked hard to
get this far and over the course of this year I want to do more than just get a
masters degree, I want to use this time to do everything I’m really meant to do
alongside with everything I’ve always wanted to do.
My time over the course of the year primary be used to focus on my degree however additional time that I have will be spent on supplementary goals. For one prior to and while I was in the military, I had regularly sold art and design work and unfortunately that has died down over the past year and a half, this is something I plan to resurrect. Secondly, I’ll be working through additional coding classes through Udemy to ensure I have an advanced understanding of the degree material and can master these development skills at a quicker and more efficient rate. And finally, I’ll continue to work on the creative side of game development by producing concept art level designs, etc.
